Match Reports 20018/19

 Sat 11th August

Capenhurst Villa 0  v 1  Litherland REMYCA ..... Well unfortunately, we kicked off the new season with a defeat, but it was a decent performance.  Cape had most of the early encounters, and had several chances in the opening half hour, but we couldn't find the important goal. And we were to pay for that later in the game, as Litherland improved as the game went on, and were looking dangerous on the break. We gifted the visitors a goal on the hour, 0-1. Cape then went on to create four or five good chances, but the visiting goalkeeper pulled off three or four brilliant saves, to break cape hearts. And it remained 0-1. Cape MoM on the day, was the steady Ian Mitchell.

'Back To Results'

 13th and 14th August

Ashville Res  2  v  2 Capenhurst Villa ..... Cape carried on in good form, and were well on top throughout most of this game, but we can't find that killer punch in front of goal. We actually went 0-2 behind to goals in the 12th min and 44th min. 0-2 half time. The home side had mustered 2 shots and claimed 2 goals, we created a hatful of chances but had nothing to show for it. Until the 75th minute that was, when Adam Smith tapped home, to get us back into the game. We had peppered the Ashville goal for most of the second half, and got our just rewards as late as the 89th minute, Tom Edwards coolly slotted home, a well earned equaliser 2-2. Well done boys. Mitch Bailey took a deserved MoM, and was at the centre of most of what we did tonight.

Capenhurst Villa Res    0    v   0    Mersey Royal FC ..... 0-0 maybe, but not a bore draw, as Cape gave Mersey Royal a great fight, to gain a valuable point, in an entertaining opening game. The visitors narrowly missed out on promotion last term, so were going to be a tough opponent, but Cape gave them a hard night. Chances fell for both sides, but keepers were generally on top for the most part. Which led to Capes custodian in nets, George Williams gaining the Cape MoM on the night, keeping a clean sheet, and pulling off several good saves. So after a decent point in our first match of this season, its onwards and upwards. 'Good effort lads'.

'Back To Results'

 Sat 18th August

Wirral SB   0   v   3    Capenhurst Villa Res ..... We huffed and puffed a bit today, despite being on top for most of the game, we didn't really push home our superiority until the final twenty minutes. Lee Ludgate tapped in on 25 mins, when Steve Rowlands picked him out with a smart pass, 1-0. But we misfired in front of goal after this, and it took a cracker from Billy Nixon on 71 mins to stamp our authority on the game. He ghosted past one, then two, then three defenders, then rounded the keeper, to slot home a fine goal, 2-0. Cape MoM on the Day Lewis Cooper finished off a great day for himself, as he smashed home a 20 yarder, to secure the points, and seal a 3-0 win. Well done boys.

Capenhurst Villa Res   1    v   7    South Sefton Borough FC Res ..... Unfortunately the Ressies found league newcomers Sefton Borough, too good on the day. We were 4-0 down at half time, and for a brief moment we looked like getting back into the game, when we fired in a free kick on 51 mins 1-4. And we also rattled the woodwork on a couple of occasions. But the visitors rattled in another three goals in the last 15 mins, to leave us shell-shocked at 1-7. Heads up and lets go again boys.

'Back To Results'

 Wed 22nd August

Capenhurst Villa   3    v   1    Mallaby FC ..... This was an entertaining match, with both teams getting the ball down and playing decent football. Half time was all square at 0-0. And in the sense of goals, the game didn't spark into life until the 72nd minute, with Danny Page putting Cape 1-0 up. But just six minutes later Mallaby levelled 1-1. But in time added on Steve Rowlands fired home, 2-1, and Danny Page bagged his 2nd of the game, 3-1, to claim all three points. A bit tough on Mallaby really, who could argue they deserved a point. But hey ho, we'll take a win. Steve Hickson claimed the Cape Mom, proving to be an able deputy in Nets. Well done boys.

To Results'

 Sat 25th August

Capenhurst Villa  4  v  1  Page Celtic FC ..... This was a great game and Page Celtic look a decent side. Cape climbed to third in the table after this fine win. Steve Rowlands put Cape 1-0 up on 12 mins, but the visitors levelled just three mins later 1-1. But on 33 mins Ryan Abraham scored a cracker, after a great move and a Danny Page cross, he rifled home 2-1, Half time. The second half saw Page Celtic up their game, and at times, had us pinned back in our own half, but on 87 mins Danny Page relieved the pressure, and scored a whopper, a 20 yard volley, leaving the Celtic keeper no chance, 3-1. And Lee Ludgate wrapped up the three points 2 mins later, side footing home, 4-1. A great result, probably a tad flattering really, against a good Page Celtic side. Ian Mitchell picked up his 2nd Cape Mom, with some great defending throughout.

Redgate Rvrs Res  7  v  1  Capenhurst Villa Res ..... Well its a tough learning curve at the moment, as Capes youngsters took another heavy defeat. But the staff will persevere with a youthful look to the side, introducing the lads to senior football. So we just need to keep their heads up, and encouragement is probably the key. Nathan Braddish scored Capes solitary goal, with Matty Hickman taking the Cape MoM with a non-stop performance. Keep the Heads Up Lads.

'Back To Results'

 28th and 29th August

West Kirby Res  1  v  5  Capenhurst Villa FC  ..... A fine win, as Cape go top of the table. I know its early doors yet but the lads are playing some decent stuff, and enjoying their football. Billy Nixon put Cape 1-0 up on 10 mins, with Steve Rowlands on 17 mins, and Andy Henry 31 mins, both netting. A West Kirby reply on 42 mins, made it 3-1 at Half time. Livewire Steve Rowlands scored another brace in the second half, to complete his hat-trick, and make it a 5-1 rout, and a comfortable win. Billy Nixon took the Cape MoM with a stand out display.

Capenhurst Villa Res   3    v   3    Poulton Royal FC ..... A vast improvement tonight, and very unlucky not to pick up 3 points. Steve Hickson put Cape 1-0 up on 12 mins, with a cute lob over the keeper. And on 20 mins John Brittain caught the opposing keeper on the ball and tapped in 2-0. But just 2 mins later the ref gave a penalty, i'm not quite sure what for but they duly dispatched it 2-1, Half time. In the second half Cape carried on playing some decent stuff, and Cape MoM on the night John Brittain scored his second goal from 18 yards out, 66 mins gone 3-1.  It looked all over then, but a mixture of inexperience and tired legs, let Poulton back into the game on 85 mins, 3-2. And a last gasp effort drew them level on 89 mins 3-3. Bloody hard luck for our lads, who'd worked their socks off all game, but we're getting steadily better. Heads up boys.

'Back To Results''

  Sat 1st September

Capenhurst Villa FC  3   v  0   Mossley Hill FC Res ..... Another fine win, which takes us three points clear at the top of the table. The youthful looking Mossley Hill frustrated Cape for the most part of the first half, and it took us until the 44th min to break the deadlock, when Steve Rowlands bent a cracker into the top corner, 1-0 half time. It didn't take us long to add to our tally, when Cape livewire Charlie Bell, made it 2-0 on 57 mins. We seemed to take our foot off the gas from that point, and it wasn't until the 81st minute, when Cory Beavan headed home our third goal, to wrap up the three points. Cape MOM was youngster Charlie Bell, who at 16 years of age, gave the opponents defence a torrid time all day.

Chester Nomads FC Res  4  v  1  Capenhurst Villa Res ..... Well no excuses in this one, as the ressies just didn't turn up, against a very average Nomads reserves. Very few efforts on goal, a man sent off, which didn't help, but we played like total strangers today. A Louis Phelan goal did pick us up a little bit, but defensively we weren't at the races. The returning Nick Monaghan picked up the Cape MoM. But the rest need to show more grit about their play. Heads up boys.

''Back To Results''

  Sat 8th September

Willaston FC     v     Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cheshire Amatuer Cup....A Walk Over for Capenhurst Villa as Willaston FC Resign from the League.

''Back To Results'

  Sat 15th September

Wirral SB  2  v  2  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... How we lost this one i dont know? But Cape bowed out of the Wirral Senior Cup on penalties, after looking comfortable all game. Danny Page scored with a bullet header on 21 mins, to give us a 1-0 lead, but we gifted the home side a goal right on half time 1-1. Ellis Williams restored our lead on 55 mins, with another good header from a Charlie Bell cross, 2-1. We were coasting at this point, and it looked like an easy route to the next round. But on 86 mins we let Wirral in for a leveller, and with No Extra Time, we fell foul of penalties, going out 4-3.

Capenhurst Villa Res  4  v  0  Redgate Rovers Res ..... A superb, confidence boosting win for the Ressies. Cape were easily the better team today, from 1 to 11. A fine Steve Hickson double, allied with goals from Phil Jones, and a 30 yard cracker, from Cape MoM on the day, Louis Phelan, gave us a well deserved 4-0 victory, and a welcome 3 points. Ahead of a tough test next week, away to top of the table Aintree Villa. "Well done boys".

 'Back To Results'

  Sat 22nd September

Capenhurst Villa FC   4   v   0   Cheshire Lines FC ..... Cape sailed through to the next round of the Bowl, after a convincing 4-0 win. Ellis Williams put Cape ahead on 10 mins 1-0. And although we were well on top, we had to wait until the second half and 54 mins, when Danny Page made it 2-0, lifting the ball neatly over the approaching keeper. And when the visiting keeper spilled the ball on 70 mins, Danny Page was on hand to tap in his second, 3-0. But on 82 mins it was Danny Wainwright who produced the goal of the game, smashing into the top corner from 20 yards out, 4-0. Josh Wonderley took the Cape MoM today, with a masterclass at centre back. 'Well done boys'.

Aintree Villa FC   6    v   3   Capenhurst Villa Res ..... Well the ressies, gave odds on favourites for the title, and top of the table Aintree Villa, a proper scare, after their start of 7 wins out of 7. Cape took the lead on 13 mins, when Louis Phelan latched on to a goalkeeping error, and tapped in, 1-0. Dominic Hoppe powered in a header from a set piece, and the home keeper pulled off a miraculous save to keep it to 1-0, but on the half hour, Nathan Braddish headed home from a free-kick, to make it 2-0. Aintree were shell shocked and pulled a goal back on 43 mins, 2-1. But in first half stoppage time Nathan Braddish was brought down for a penalty, and he picked himself up and slotted home, for his second goal, 3-1 half time. The home side got a right rollicking at half time, and came out like true table toppers. Goals in the 52nd, 60th, 65th, 71st and a penalty on 75 mins made it 6-3 for the home side. A shame really after a superb first half from Cape. Never mind lads, heads up, onwards and upwards. Cape Captain, Phil Jones took the Cape MoM, with another towering display.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 29th September

Heswall FC  2  v  0   Capenhurst Villa FC ..... A top of the table clash which looked nothing like it, as both teams struggled for any kind of form on the day. The only difference between the teams was a goal in each half for Heswall, aside from that, neither keeper was much troubled on the day, so back to the drawing board. Lewis Cooper claimed the Cape MoM with a steady game.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res   2   v  3    Marshalls FC Res ..... An early exit from the West Cheshire Shield, as the ressies threw this one away. We took a 2-0 lead after just 10 mins, Phil Jones smacked in a cracker on just 5 mins 1-0, and John Brittain capitalised on a mistake, adding a 2nd on 10 mins 2-0. But we took our foot off the gas, and by half time it was 2-2. The visitors had their tails up, and sadly nicked a winner on 89 mins, 2-3, giving Cape no time to reply. Louis Phelan was once again Capes stand out man, claiming the Cape MoM.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 6th October

Capenhurst Villa FC    2   v  1    Wirral SB ..... A decent win, and just about deserved, in what was a fairly even game throughout. The visitors seem like a decent side, and played well above their league position of 12th suggested. Cape took an early lead on 4 mins, when Billy Nixon was on hand, to bundle the ball over the line following a corner, 1-0. But on 17 mins, the visitors levelled 1-1. And it was 1-1 until the 64th minute, when Andy Henry side-footed home from a Charlie Bell cross, following the best move of the match, 2-1. And that's how it stayed, with a welcome 3 points coming Capes way. Danny Page took the Cape MoM, with a strong performance up front.

Burscough Dynamo FC Res   1  v  1   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... A creditable point for the stiffs, after the long trip to Burscough. The home side took a first half lead 1-0, but Cape were the better side, and were creating the lions share of the chances. And on 81 mins, our patience paid off, when Capes MoM on the day Dominic Hoppe rose highest to head home, and secure a well deserved point 1-1. Well done boys.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 13th October

Capenhurst Villa FC   1    v   2   Helsby ..... Unfortunately, Cape made an early exit from the Cheshire cup, to Chester league outfit Helsby FC. We started off really well, looking dangerous every time we went forward. And Danny Wainwright put us 1-0 to the good after 11 mins, with a neat lob over the Helsby keeper, 1-0. So it looked like an easy path into the next round. But a dismal second half display saw us concede goals in the 60th and 65th minute, to bow out of the cup 2-1. We just couldn't repeat our first half form, and paid the price for it.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 20th October

Mallaby FC   0  v  3   Capenhurst Villa FC ..... A great three points, against a solid looking Mallaby outfit. This game was more or less done by half time, when goals from Ian Mitchell, Lee Ludgate and a belter from Ellis Williams, gave us a 3-0 advantage. The home side then put us under tremendous 2nd half pressure, but we held firm, and Cape keeper Andy Millington needed to be at his best, as he picked up the Cape MoM, helping us to a welcome clean sheet. Well in Boys.

Ellesmere Port Town FC Res   0  v  6   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... A cracking performance, as we put the skids under local rivals Ellesmere Port, to reach the Wirral Amateur Cup Semis. Six different goalscorers sent us sailing into the next round. John Britton started the ball rolling on 14 mins, followed by goals from Mike Mitchell, and Louis Phelan, Half time 3-0. Then on 62 mins, the goal of the game, a solo effort from Matty Hickman, then a Ross Cooper header, provided by the ageless Alan Schumacker, and a late Dominic Hoppe effort, finished off the rout 6-0. As well as scoring six, our defence also merits a mention, as we limited the home side to only a handful of chances, keeping a clean sheet. Well done lads.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 27th October

Capenhurst Villa FC   3  v  1  South Liverpool FC Res ..... Another fine win, against 3rd placed South Liverpool. Cape were well on top in the opening encounters, and Lewis Cooper rifled home from 18 yds out, to give us a 1-0 lead. And Lee Ludgate added a second on 40 mins to give us a 2-0 half time lead. But as in previous weeks, our form seemed to dip in the second half, and the visitors pulled a goal back on 71 mins 2-1. We were now constantly pegged back in our own half, with South putting us under a lot of pressure, but we broke away to score a cracking goal, as Lee Ludgate set up Conor Doyle to smash home the third, 3-1, and secure the points. Ellis Williams picked up the Cape MoM, with a Non stop performance.

Marshalls FC Res   0  v  5   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... The stiffs put in another great performance, and everything seems to be clicking together nicely, with the younger lads especially, finding their feet. Its nice to come back with the three points, after the long haul to the other side of Liverpool. And free scoring centre back Dominic Hoppe chipped in with another brace, alongside goals from Ben Marray, Steve Hickson, and MoM on the day Carl Wellsbury. Onwards and upwards we go. Well in lads.

'Back To Results'

  Sat 3rd November

Capenhurst Villa FC   2  v  1  Prescot Cable FC Res ..... Yes, yet another win, and Cape go top, after securing another three points. Danny Page put Cape 1-0 up on 36 ins, for a half time lead. And Andy Henry smashed home on 65 mins 2-0. But we did it again, and our game dipped in the latter stages, allowing the visitors a goal back on 81 mins 2-1, to make it a nervous end to the game. But Cape battled through to pick up the 3 points 2-1. Andy Henry picked up the Cape MoM, causing Prescot problems all day, with a goal, allied with some decent wing play, firing in decent crosses all game.

Ellesmere Port Town FC Res   1  v  6   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... The stiffs do it again, and hit Ellesmere Port for six. Just as they did in the cup tie 2 weeks ago. The lads ran riot again, and the result was never in doubt. With goals from John Britton, Dominic Hoppe, Alan Schumacker, Matt Concannon, Jack Foster, and MoM on the day, Carl Wellsbury chipping in with the 6th goal. And the Port bagged a consolation late on, for a scoreline of 6-1 to Cape. Well done "Keep it up lads".

'Back To Results'

  Sat 10th November

Capenhurst Villa FC  3   v  2   West Kirby FC Res ..... Cape consolidated their place at the top of the table, but we did it the hard way again, after taking a 3-0 lead. Steve Rowalnds volleyed in a fine finish on 17 mins, 1-0. He added a 2nd goal on 33 mins, 2-0, and Adam Smith rose highest, to head home a Andy Henry free Kick on 39 mins, 3-0 and coasting. But once again in the second half we came out a different team. West Kirby pulled a goal back just 10 minutes into the second half, 3-1. And scored a 2nd on 70 mins 3-2, to make it another nervy finish for Cape. We held out for the three points, but our dip in form in the second half of recent games is a complete mystery. Cape MoM was two goal hero on the day, Steve Rowlands.

Neston Nomads FC Res   3   v  0   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... Well after our recent good form, we just didn't turn up for this one. Each of the Neston goals can be best described as 'Gifts'. As the home side capitalised on a host of Capenhurst errors. This was a total surprise after recent games, but never mind, we dust ourselves down, and go again next week. 'Heads up boys'. The in-form Carl Wellsbury once again, picked up the Cape MoM, his third in a row.

Cheshire Lines FC   0   v  4  Capenhurst Villa ..... A cracking result against 3rd placed Lines, as Cape put the home side severly to the sword. Charlie Bell scored the opener on 23 mins, 1-0, with a brave header, getting clattered by their keeper, which unfortunately meant he would take no further part in the game. Lewis Cooper, made it 2-0 just 3 mins later, with a neat finish. Half time 2-0. The second half went much the same way, with Cape well on top, and on 74 mins Ellis Williams tapped home after good work from Steve Rowlands, 3-0. And Lee Ludgate put the icing on the cake, on 84 mins, making it 4-0 with a nice finish. Danny Wainwright took the plaudits and the Cape MoM, with a tigerish display in midfield.

Heswall FC Res   3   v  7   Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... Normal service resumed, as the Stiffs came back to form. We went a goal down in this one but that was the only negative on the day, as we totally dominated the rest of the game. 0-1 down on 8 mins, 1-1 on 10 mins, Alan Locke. 2-1 on 20 mins, via Carl Wellsbury. Heswall levelled 2-2 after 33 mins. Jack Foster put us 3-2 up just before half time. The second half was a rout, as MoM for the fourth week running Carl Wellsbury, notched another 2 goals, to complete his hat-trick 5-2, Further goals from Alan Schumacker, and possibly goal of the game from Matty Hickman, with a goal for Heswall in between, completed a fine days work, and a 7-3 win.

Prescot Cable FC Res   2  v  3    Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cape made the long trip to Prescot, and didn't wake up until half time. By that time we were 0-2 down, and looked like exiting the Cup. But the lads picked themselves up, and produce a cracking, second half comeback. As Danny Page bagged a brace, and MoM on the day Billy Nixon, also netted, to take us through. We now look forward to a Semi-final in the New Year. Well done lads.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res   1   v   3    Neston Nomads FC Res ..... Well we cant seem to break this Neston curse, as we lost to them again, for the second time in a matter of weeks. 0-2 down after 15 mins, and 0-3 down at half time, gave us too much of a mountain to climb. Although our second half performance was a 100% improvement on our first half showing, we could only muster the one goal. A cracker from Louis Phelan, to make it 3-1. Alan Locke was Capes stand out man today, with a never say die attitude.

South Sefton Borough   3  v  0  Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... Well you had to be there to witness this one, as this was NEVER a 3-0 game. Cape more than held their own throughout the match. And despite conceding 3 goals, we hit the woodwork three times, one a superb Alan Locke effort, and had numerous other chances. Pushing second placed Sefton all the way to the final whistle. So heads up lads and go again next week. Cape MoM on the day was the impressive Liam Wall.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  2  v  1   Aintree Villa ..... Yessss !!! Cape beat unbeaten Aintree Villa, on a rain soaked day on the Vauxhall Astroturf. And to those who have watched the stiffs play in the last few weeks, this was no surprise, as we were very unlucky last week, at 2nd placed Sefton Borough FC. And equally unlucky away to Aintree last month.
We were more than a match, for the unbeaten table toppers Aintree Villa today, and created the best chance in a goalless first half, 0-0 half time. Aintree, unaccustomed to being held to 0-0, came out fired up, and scored a well taken volley, just six minutes into the 2nd half 0-1. But we never bowed our heads, and Louis Phelan bent a curling shot around the approaching keeper, to level 1-1 on 56 ins. And 5 minutes later the goal of the game, as Aintree were on the attack, we broke up the play, and a four pass move saw Corey Beavan go past two defenders, into the Aintree box, and slide home a great goal 2-1.
The last quarter of the game was a bit hectic, to say the least. But we held firm, and deputy goalie Steve Hickson, was called upon a few times, but we held out for a worthy 2-1 win. Dominic Hoppe claimed the Cape MoM, after a move to centre midfield today, he never put a foot wrong. But a great display also from players 1 to 11, and even the lads coming off the bench made a difference. Great effort boys.

Mossley Hill FC Res   2  v   4  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cape stay top, after another win, in an open, end to end game at Mossley Hill Res. This was a great game to watch, albeit in freezing, wet conditions. It was end to end stuff right from the first whistle, and after 12 mins, a good Capenhurst move saw Lewis Cooper pick out Andy Henry to coolly slot home, 1-0. The home side levelled on the half hour 1-1, but on 39 mins Steve Rowlands restored our lead, 2-1 half time. Mossley Hill once again levelled on 51 mins 2-2. But just 3 mins later Danny Page hit a 20 yarder, to make it 3-2 to Cape. The game continued swaying from end to end, and on 79 minutes Matty Hickman finished off a fine move, to secure the points 4-2. Centre back Adam Smith picked up the Cape MoM with a solid performance.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  4   v  3   Chester Nomads FC Res ..... Well this was another keenly contested game, and we continued our recent good run of form, just edging out Chester Nomads with another fine win. With 23 mins gone James Sheridan put Cape 1-0 to the good. But after 33 mins Nomads drew level 1-1. Mason Flavell put Cape 2-1 up just before the break, half time 2-1. The second half carried on flowing from end to end, and Cape just managed to edge it, Nomads levelled on 58 mins 2-2. But with further goals from John Brittain and Jack Foster and a Nomads goal sandwiched in between, the final scoreline was 4-3 to Cape. We now climb to the dizzy heights of fifth in the table. A great effort from all concerned. Well in boys. James Sheridan took todays Cape MoM vote, with a good performance, and a goal to boot.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  6   v  4   Wirral SB FC Res ..... This was a great game for the neutral, a ten goal thriller, which wasn't decided until the last 10 mins. Thankfully it was Cape who eventually came out on top. Goals from Danny page 2, Carl Wellsbury 2, Phil Jones and an 85th minute Rowan Whelan goal, made sure the points went Capes way. After going 0-2 down, on 18 mins, we fought back to 2-2, then went 3-2 down, we levelled 3-3, then went 4-3 down. We showed excellent fight-back qualities, to come from behind three times, eventually finishing up 6-4 winners. A superb effort. The Cape MoM vote went the way of Carl Wellsbury who netted twice, and was a constant thorn in Wirrals side.

Page Celtic FC   1  v   0  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cape weren't at their best today. And after Page Celtic took a 1-0 lead on 10 mins, we never really looked like getting anything out of the game. Andy Millington in Capes goal, stood up to make several good stops in a hectic first half. Without us really troubling their keeper. On a brighter point, we do stay in top spot, but have Page Celtic, and Heswall, breathing down our neck now, setting up an interesting run-in. Lewis Cooper was our stand out man today, taking the Cape MoM. On a day when too many players fell well short of their best.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  3   v  0   E.Port Town FC Res ..... The Ressies kept up their good form into the New Year, with a decent win in the local derby with Ellesmere Port Town res. Goals from Steve Hickson, Dom Hoppe, and Rowan Whelan, proved more than enough, allied to a welcome clean sheet at the other end. The in-form Dominic Hoppe picked up another MoM, with a goal, and a powerful display.

Litherland REMYCA FC Res   2   v   5  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cape travelled to Litherland and returned with a three point haul. After a topsy-turvy first half, Cape finally took control in the second period. And goals from Danny Page, Steve Rowlands, Liam Wall, Corey Beavan, and Cape MoM on the day, Eamonn Ryan, secured a 5-2 win, and made the long trip home a bit more enjoyable. Well in boys.

Capenhurst Villa FC   2    v   1   Ashville FC Res ..... With still no electricity at Capenhurst, we played the game on the Astroturf at Vauxhall. Steve Rowlands put Cape 1-0 up on 35 mins, and Corey Beavan doubled Capes lead on 72 mins, 2-0. The game looked to be all over, But Ashville immediately pulled a goal back on 74 mins 2-1, to make it a nervy finish, but we hung on for another win. Phil Jones was our stand out man today, taking the Cape MoM.

Poulton Royal FC   1   v   1  Capenhurst Villa FC Res ..... Unfortunately this game was abandoned after 30 mins, with the scoreline at 1-1, with Carl Wellsbury netting a cracker for Cape. A Poulton player had a bad leg break on the half hour, so the referee decided to call time on the game. Our best wishes go to the Poulton player concerned. We hope he has a quick recovery.

Prescot Cables FC Res  0  v  6  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... A comfortable day for Cape, as they rarely needed to break sweat. We were too good for the home side from start to finish, and a perfect hat trick, left foot, right foot, and a header, from leading marksman Danny Page in the first half, and a John Wainwright header, saw us out of sight by half time, 4-0 up. We even had the luxury of resting Pagey at half time, and Steve Rowlands added another 2 goals in the second period, to complete a comprehensive 6-0 win. Prescot did have a chance with a penalty on 75 mins, but Cape keeper Andy Millington saved the spot kick to keep a clean sheet. Cape Mom was without question Danny Page.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  4   v   2   Burscough Dynamo FC ..... Another fine win for the stiffs, even after going a goal down early doors, the lads never lost their way. At 0-1 down Dom Hoppe netted once again, to level 1-1 on 35 mins. Mason Flavell then put us 2-1 up on 41 mins, only for us to drop our guard, and let the visitors in right on half time, 2-2. We picked ourselves up again, and a Rowan Whelan goal gave us 3-2 advantage on 56 mins. Which was soon followed by a James Sheridan effort on 58 mins 4-2. And that's how it remained, as we managed to shut up shop and see the game out 4-2. The steady Dom Hoppe picked up his 4th Cape MoM of the season.

Capenhurst Villa FC   3   v   2   Heswall FC ..... A great three points, against 2nd placed rivals Heswall, which keeps us seven points clear of our visitors, who now drop into third place. Cape took a first half 1-0 lead on 27 mins, with an 18 yard strike from Steve Rowlands. We bossed most of the half, but after the re-start Heswall levelled on 49 mins 1-1. It was a tight affair now but in a 3 minute spell on 60 mins, Steve Rowlands bagged his 2nd goal, with a smart volley. And on 63 mins, todays Cape MoM Ian Mitchell thundered home a bullet header from a corner, 3-1. That wrapped up the points. The referee somehow found 12 mins of added on time, when Heswall netted a 2nd 3-2 on 98 mins. Gladly the lads held out for the win.

  Sat 2nd March

Mallaby FC  2   v  3   Capenhurst Villa FC .... Cape bagged a Cup final spot, but nerves were jangling a bit in the last few minutes. Cape took a 2-0 first half lead, Danny Page heading home from a corner on 8 mins 1-0. And Andy Henry scored with another header, after a Danny Page effort rattled off the cross bar, Andy was on hand to head home the rebound, 2-0 on 32 mins. We were looking really comfortable, but Mallaby pulled a goal back right on half time 2-1 HT. Then after Cape dominating the first half, Mallaby took control of matters, and levelled on 79 mins, 2-2. But it was to be Capes day, as Andy Henry broke away, and was scythed down for a penalty on 82 mins. Top scorer Danny Page stepped up and smashed home the spot kick, to give us a 3-2 win. Billy Nixon was our stand out man today, picking up the Cape MoM with a great performance.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  0   v   2   Ellesmere Port Town fc.... A really disappointing day for the stiffs in their Semi-final, as they couldn't quite reproduce their recent form. Port bagged a goal in each half to break Capenhurst hearts. But nevertheless, still a big achievement, with this young side. So heads up lads, Onwards and Upwards.

Capenhurst Villa FC   1   v   3   Maghull FC Res.... Well Cape never really showed up for this one. We were 0-2 down after 56 mins, and hadn't mustered a shot on target. Lewis Cooper did pull a goal back on the hour 1-2, but Maghull soon restored their two goal advantage 1-3, on 70 mins, and unfortunately that's how it stayed. A disappointing day for Cape. The ever consistent Phil Jones took the Cape Mom.

 Sat 23rd March

Capenhurst Villa FC   2   v   3   CheshireLines FC .... We started off 100% better than last week, and we were 1-0 up through a Danny Page header on 6 mins, but it was all square just 5 mins later 1-1 on 11 mins. Cape were well on top, when Danny Page was dragged down for a penalty on 27 mins, and he picked himself up and duly despatched the spot kick, for his and Capes 2nd, 2-1 and Half time. The second half was nothing like the first, and we dropped off the pace. The Lines pushed and pushed, and eventually levelled on 80 mins 2-2, and with their tails up, added a winner on 85 mins 2-3. Our second half showing was nowhere near our first half, and we probably got what we deserved in the end. Cape Mom today, was centre back Charlie Thomas.

South Liverpool FC Res  1   v   1 Capenhurst Villa FC .... Cape took a welcome point, after a run of two defeats on the spin. On the whole we played a lot better today, and after going a goal down 0-1, early in the second half, we fought back well, to snatch a point on 71 mins. It was Cape MoM on the day, Eamonn Ryan, who surged forward, went past 2 or three challenges, and toe poked home the deserved equaliser 1-1.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res  3   v   1   Marshalls FC Res .... Cape more or less secured a top five finish, with a comfortable win over Marshalls. MoM on the day, Carl Wellesbury and Phil Jones put Cape 2-0 by half time, and youngster Rowan Whelan put the result beyond doubt on 73 mins, 3-0. The visitors did claim a consolation goal late on, to make it 3-1 to Cape, but it was another three points for the lads, with a very steady performance.

Capenhurst Villa FC Res   2  v  1   Heswall FC Res ..... The Ressies signed off their final home game with a fine win. After a goalless first half, the game eventually sprung into life on 50 mins, as Capes Carl Wellesbury took his personal goal tally into double figures, and made it 1-0. Unfortunately we were still celebrating, when Heswall levelled on 51 mins, 1-1. It was even stevens from thereon, but it was Capenhurst who claimed the winner, and all three points in the 90th minute, via Cape MoM on the day Mike Mitchell, 2-1. Leaving the visitors no time to reply. Well in boys.

Maghull FC Res  1  v  2  Capenhurst Villa FC ..... Cape just needed a win to get promotion, and remain in 2nd place in the league, but yes you guessed it. We went a goal down after 28 mins. But the lads never bottled it, and on 50 mins, Danny Wainwright played a smart 1-2 with Cape MoM on the day, Mitch Bailey, and smashed home from 18 yards, 1-1. And maybe it was fitting, that Capes leading scorer, Danny Page, should bag the winner on 58 mins, 2-1, with a neat lob over the oncoming keeper, after good work from Ashley Wardle. Division one here we come. Congrats to all Cape Staff: Daz, Damian, Pidge, Swainy, and of course, all the players. 'Well in boys'.

Capenhurst Villa FC  0   v  1  Page Celtic   .....WEST CHESHIRE BOWL FINAL.....
Cape fell at the last hurdle, with a 1-0 defeat in the Bowl final. But we were never second best in the whole 90 mins. Cape bossed most of the game, with territorial advantage throughout, but we couldn't find that all important goal. Page Celtic played with a strong rearguard action as soon as they scored, with somewhat of a fluke, on 37 mins. Sometimes getting 9 or 10 men behind the ball. And we eventually went down 1-0, unable to find a reply. We did hit the post with a Danny Page effort, and had a couple of really good chances that went begging. And although the lads fought admirably, we just couldn't peg Celtic back. The Capenhurst team left the field with their heads held high, after giving it their all. Unlucky boys, Good Effort.
